So, we will be leaving for a big New Years Party (at the Eurofurence Ringberg Hotel) tomorrow early in the morning, so this will probably be the last entry for 2009.

I wanted to thank everyone of you for your support and all the kind words and comments during the year, of course also for your interest in my artwork! So often I don't find the time to answer every comment, but I very much appeciate every single one of them.
Thank you especially for all the support you gave me when my love Ashati died... having the imagination in my head where she is now playing with your animal friends who passed away earlier, this gives me both tears and a smile on my face.

Also a special thank you to everyone who supported animals in any way - helping physically, donating, raising your voice where needed... no matter where, no matter which species. This is a big gift and I cherish such people very very much. For me personally, that's my only New Year's resolution - doing more to support animals.

Regarding arts... I am currently preparing the new Art CD 2009, which will be available at Further Confusion in January. It's always a nice resume for myself to see what art I did during the year (and finding unscanned sketches etc.). As said, I will be at FC, sharing Dealer's Den table with the always so kind Kacey Miyagami (thank you for that!!), I will also have art in the Art Show again (though I am still very much behind schedule, due to the happenings in December).

I stopped by to write a little entry about my xmassy days, but then I scrolled through my journal and noticed a painful lack of art updates. Granted… most people watch one or the other of my online gallery, but not all of them do. So… let’s see if I can get some art thrown at you. Old or new.

I am not entirely sure with what to start posting… ACEOs? Human art? Xmas gifts? Eh… guess I will start egoistically and start with what was most important to me over the past weeks… End of September I started a roleplay with nelena_diskai and within short time it became incredibly important to me and the characters grew very very dear to my heart. They made me wanna try to improve my human art work so much that I sat down and tried...


Garth - Head Studies
Those were facial studies for Garth, the character I play. By now I can't even stand looking at this anymore, besides the little profile. The sketches and the digital colouring took me two weeks and I never corrected that much and that often and laid aside the sketch again as with this little thing. And still I feel it didn't pay out.

Back to the things I know and can do...
Garth is a werewolf character and this is his lycanthrope shape. I fiddled around for a while till I found a pattern that satisfied me. I didn't want him to become a sparklewere in the end or something like this, but I also didn't want to make him too simple. I am still not sure if he turned out like a Were or once again more like a wolf anthro. Gotta work on that, too.

This... I gotta confess, still makes me proud. A lot... I got myself a book about art nouveau and I wanted to use the influence and impact it had on me to create a picture of Garth I am finally happy with. The process was very painful (till the end) and I apologize to all who helped me out for my cussing and whining. This time it paid out in the end... I am in love with him, the picture, I mean.. >_>' It's one of the few things I drew myself that I would still hang up on the wall, but I don't want to praise myself here too much. More about the piece itself is found in the DA comment. So can be the lineart.


CuteKissMeme - Garth & Felan

My xmas gift to nelena_diskai... our characters being all smoochy and mushy and cuddly. It's a set of four art cards puzzled together in a meme and they made me cuss almost as much as the predecessing picture above. There is so damn much, so many f***ed up _tiny_ details that make me go berserk, because I think they ruin everything. It's so exhausting... but alas... there is something in every card that I love enough to swear to myself not to give up trying...


So much for art for now.

"A heart of Gold stopped beating" - For Ashati

I made a Memorial website for my Ashati, including photos and all the memory artwork we received, as well as some words of comfort, like the Rainbow Bridge and a sad but very comforting story (about losing your pet) named "The little red cat" (in German and English). That story is worth reading. May it bring a little comfort to all of you out there who lost a beloved animal.

FINALLY it's available on DVD - the Junglebook series (UFA) I used to watch when I was younger. :D All 52 episodes on 10 DVDs. One of the first series which intensified my wolf spleen. ^^

It doesn't look like I will get my little anual Xmas card done in time and I don't really feel like rushing it or putting myself under more pressure because of it. Xp

So I would like to use the time to send my greetings and wishes you to all of you out there who care.



No matter if you celebrate Xmas or Yule or nothing... I wish you days of serenity and joy.

If you are with others, I hope you're surrounded by loved ones. If you are alone, I hope it's calmness surrounding you, not loneliness.

Let 2009 pass by, remember the nice things, try to win strength out of the bad ones.

Honestly - that was the last year I paid money to get a paid DeviantArt account... All those scripts and dynamic stuff meanwhile makes the site almost unusable for me (using newest Firefox browser).
I can't sort pictures into the galleries (they seem there, but after reloading they're back again), I can't delete messages or deviations from my list (various loading error messages), everything takes ages... It workes sometimes, but way too often it doesn't.

Sorry, this is NOT how a proper (paid!) gallery should work. :(
I truely miss the old days where DA was still simple but worked...

This was by far the most breathtaking, touching and beautiful movie of the whole year and for a long time! We watched it in 3D this week - I absolutely loved it, it also made me cry. I would die for watching it in a 3D IMAX again. =)
